How to blow $65k?
When my new supervisor was hired, she was responsible for the oversight of our $300,000.00 budget. Unfortunately, due in some part to issues beyond her control, she neglected to spend over one quarter of it.
My friend Ronnie is confronted with the old dilemma of how to spend excess budget. I already asked, hookers and cocaine are out. So any other ideas on how to spend it? How about something sciency? One limitation is that has to be spent in increments of $2500.

Fear nor for I have the perfect solution and it's even science related!!! Adopt a FSU out of state student majoring in physical therapy...and I do believe you can do this in several increments of 2500.00. One semester is about 8,000.00...and books (chemistry) and supplies could take care of another 2500.00...

What about GPS units and satellite phones ? Or rugged laptops.
Then there's the high quality Digital SLR's along with Macro lenses.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the tips!
We have plenty of Trimble GeoXT GPS units, my agency don't do Apple and a "Toughbook" is on the way! A steal at $2,200.00. I can't buy two from the same company at that price and I cant find one anywhere else (http://newegg.com).
As for Martha, too late for Fiscal Year 05, try:

for FY06.

- improve productivity with optical mice & dual flat screen monitors
- everyone likes extra RAM
- Team building excercises. I recommend the football mode of Unreal Tournament... or better yet, Allegiance, since it's the best team computer game I've seen and, now that it's open source, you can contribute whatever amount you think fair. :-) (How much does corporate teamwork training software cost these days?) It was through Allegiance that I learned that success causes teamwork more often than vice versa.

There's never enough budget.
First thing you should do is to fix the bugs in Domino, by spending the money for some web based customer feedback application, and personnel who have at least R6 CAAD training.
Once the bugs are fixed, you could buy some Samsung 193P TFT screens for everyone, and make sure everyone has Windows XP and IBM ThinkPad 42p laptops (or whatever the newest version is).
Conventional CRT displays do not display the pixels sharp and thus cause headache, since the eyes try to focus the display which they can't, and cause permanent damage to the eyes.

You could by twenty-five surplus F5A fighter planes at the RoK Air Force clearance sale.
